Day 1: Depart from Los Angeles.
Day 2: Arrive in Shanghai, and spend the day resting. The whole trip lies before you!
Day 3: Tour the River Bund and Lujiazui Financial District. This area will be full of the most influential financial centers in China. After lunch, tour the Jinmao Tower, Yu Garden, and Old Shanghai Town.
Day 4: Drive out to day tour the Ancient Town Zhouzhang, built in the Song Dynasty and surrounded by water.
Day 5: Visit the Coca-Cola Shanghai Corporation, the first of foreign joint ventures back when China opened its market to foreign investors in 1979. We will invite an economics specialist to speak on China's economic development and answer questions. Then, take an overnight train to Beijing.
Day 6: Visit the Beijing Olympic Village, used in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Then return to the hotel and rest.
Day 7: Visit the Tiananmen Square, from which you will enter the Forbidden City, center of the Ming and Qing dynasties. After lunch, tour the Summer Palace, where Emperors retired every year to relax.
Day 8: Visit the famed Great Wall of China (Mutianyu section), China's great pride and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Afterwards, visit Dong Yue Miao, the largest Taoist temple in Northern China.
Day 9: Spend the morning at the Temple of Heaven from the Ming Dynasty, representing the most advanced geometric and mechanic principles of the time. Then fly to Xi'an in the afternoon and rest for the evening.
Day 10: See the historic Terracotta Warriors, guardians of the First Emperor of China, Qin Xi Huang. Then, take a bicycle ride on the ancient Xi'an city wall.
Day 11: Climb Huashan, one of the Five Great Mountains of China, called the "Steepest Mountain in the World." Visit the Huxian Folklore Center to see a lion dance performance and local folklore culture. Visit the Museum of Stone Tablets in the afternoon.
Day 12: Return to Los Angeles. Welcome home!
